Quarrying in the quarry

The extraction in the quarry takes place in stages and releases large, valuable blocks of sandstone.

Professional dismantling

Using modern drilling technology and diamond wire saws and with the help of an experienced team, the Rorschach sandstone is carefully quarried in defined stages. First, precise holes are drilled. The diamond wire is pulled through the drill holes and set in rapid rotation by a drive motor, which cuts the stone. We need a cutting area of around 100 square meters for one extraction stage. Bärlocher extracts and processes an average of 250 cubic meters of rock per week.

Heavy chunks

The quarried stone blocks weigh around 600 tons and measure approximately 8 × 12 × 3 meters. Heavy construction machinery sorts the material, takes it to the quarry for further processing and loads it onto transporters.

HEAVY MACHINERY

Heavy machinery in the quarry sorts the extracted material.

Almost 100% recycling

Bärlocher recycles almost all of the material extracted from the quarry. Products such as stone and gravel baskets make a significant contribution to this. Chippings and gravel from the quarry can be used to create ruderal areas or for the renaturation of riverbanks and lakeshores.
